Friends of the Los Angeles River Event

OffthaHook5

Join us for the second annual FoLAR Fish Derby – “Off Tha’ Hook”. Our event will take place on September 5th, which is one of the “Free” fishing days, as per U.S. Fish and Wildlife who govern fishing on the river, “Free” meaning, no license is needed on this day so it is open to all. Our event is a Catch & Release with an experienced angler contest ($50 Registration Fee – Limited Spots) and a No Cost Kids Fish where anglers teach kids stewardship of fishing. Anglers who stick around to help with the Kids Fish will have their registration fee discounted. Jim Burns, who runs the blog LA River Flyfishing and avid LA River angler will be on hand as a consultant. We will have Biologists at the event as well to weigh, measure and catalog every fish prior to releasing back into the LA River to serve as an addendum to our 2008 Fish Study. This event is also designed to promote Stewardship of Fishing on the Los Angeles River.
